Request for Presentation of Residence Card

Customers who are foreign nationals residing in Japan are asked to confirm their status of residence and period of stay (expiration date) using their residence card and other documents when opening a new account. In principle, if the remaining period of stay (expiration date) is less than three months, we ask that you complete the account opening procedures after renewing your residence card.

In addition, for customer who are foreign nationals residing in Japan who have already opened an account, we ask to confirm their status of residence and period of stay (expiration date) as a bank branch, by postal mail, or other means. If you have changed your status of residence or renewed your period of stay, please present your updated residence card to confirm your updated status of residence and period of stay (expiration date). We will send you a document requesting submission* approximately three months before the expiration date of your period of stay, so please submit it according to the instructions.

If the period of stay (expiration date) expires without you confirming your status of residence and period of stay (expiration date), or if you do not provide documentation that confirms your status of residence and period of stay (expiration date), we will restrict all or part of your transactions based on deposit regulations.

* Please check below for (the Japanese, English, and Chinese versions of) the document requesting submission.
