Opening a non-resident account (personal account)

Tokyo Star Bank offers support to non-residents (foreign nationals) to ensure you can use our services with confidence and ease.

Who may apply to open an account?

In principle, the following individuals may apply to open a personal Tokyo Star Bank account for non-residents (foreign nationals):

  • We may refuse some requests to open an account after giving comprehensive consideration.
Holders of a Republic of China (Taiwan) passport
This is a service that opens non-resident accounts for Taiwanese passport holders.
Residents of Taiwan
This service is only available to Taiwanese nationals.
Individuals who can submit an official proof of residency
Residents of Taiwan for tax purposes who provide official proof of residency.

Required Procedures

In principle, account opening and transactions are conducted in-person at our Head Office Financial Lounge (Head Office Branch).
In addition, to open an account, you will need to submit identification documents, fill out necessary documents, sign, affix your seal, etc.

Other Comprehensive Services

Notes

  • You will not be issued with a passbook. Statements will be mailed to your registered address each month. (Statements will be in Japanese, and explanatory materials will be provided in Chinese or English when you open your account)
  • Bank cards will only be issued upon request.
  • You will not have access to telephone banking or internet banking.
