Service Overview

With the Foreign Remittance Web Service, you can register a new dedicated account and then register the remittance destination to process your overseas remittance online.

Foreign Remittance Web Service procedures

  • A dedicated account is required to use this service. To open an account, we, in principle require an in-person meeting with a bank employee to verify your identity and remittance details in accordance with the Foreign Exchange and Foreign Trade Act.
  • The sender and recipient information must be registered in advance. When you register, we will conduct our standard screening process.
    To request a remittance, select a remittance destination that you have registered in advance and enter basic information such as the amount and purpose.
  • This service requires use of a PC as it utilizes Microsoft Office (Excel)*.
    *Microsoft Office (Excel) will be used for the initial "ID issuance application" and "remittance destination registration".
    When making a foreign remittance request, smartphones can also be used. However, if the purpose of remittance is import, intermediary trade, or capital transaction, you will need to use a PC.

Main information required to use the Service

To create an account and submit foreign remittance requests through this service, please prepare the following information in advance.

Item Points to note
Name and address of the sender The sender will need to enter the name, address, etc. that they have registered with our bank. For corporate customers with a Legal Entity Identifier (LEI), please enter that as well. The LEI is a 20-character alphanumeric code based on ISO 17442 established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The LEI provides reference information that allows for clear and unique identification of legal entities participating in financial transactions. The LEI also contains information about the ownership structure of the legal entity.
Remittance currency and amount Enter the currency and amount you wish to remit. For foreign currencies, amounts must be specified down to the minor currency unit.
Paying bank fees Please select who will bear the fees incurred by the overseas paying bank (sender or recipient).
Transaction account information Please specify the settlement account for the remittance (and the yen deposit account from which the fee will be debited). Enter the account type (savings/current), account number, etc.
Remittance destination (recipient information), address Please register the recipient's name (or company name) and address.
Please enter the address details, including country, state/province, city name, postal code, etc.
If the recipient is a legal entity and has obtained a Legal Entity Identifier (LEI), please enter it in the designated field.
Recipient account IBAN code IBAN is a standard format for international bank account numbers used primarily in European countries, and is required if the recipient's bank is in a country that uses IBAN codes.
Recipient's bank BIC (SWIFT) code A BIC (SWIFT) code is an 8- or 11-digit code established by the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication to identify banks.
Intermediary bank Enter intermediary bank details if applicable.
Purpose of remittance, etc. For imports and intermediary trade, the country of origin, country of loading, and city of loading are required. For capital transactions, the balance of payments item number is required. Please enter this information in a separate file and upload it. Also, if a permit is required, please enter the date the permit was obtained and the permit number.

Important points to note when using this service

  • To open an account for this service, you will need to submit identification documents and, in principle, have a face-to-face interview.
  • When accepting a request for foreign remittance, in principle, identity verification via telephone is required.
  • We may ask you to declare, explain, or present documents regarding the purpose of the transaction, your relationship with the recipient, etc.
  • Foreign remittances are subject to screening. Please note that we may be unable to process certain requests depending on the details.
  • The review process from request submission to approval requires considerable time, possibly several days. As a result, we are unable to accommodate requests for a specific date for the remittance to be made. We ask that you please submit your remittance requests well in advance.
  • There may be cases where you are unable to use this system due to issues with your device, internet connection environment, or outages, etc.
