Account Opening
The procedures differ depending on what kind of identification document you have.
Use the following chart to confirm the account opening procedures required based on your circumstances.
- 1.Those employed at an office in Japan (excluding part-time workers)
- 2.Those who have resided in Japan for at least six months
*Even if you fall under the above, those who do not have a residence card or special permanent resident certificate are not eligible to apply.

*When opening an account online, you will also need to complete the procedures to sign up for internet banking.

Accounts can only be opened at our main branch.
*In principle, the following people can open a TSB account for non-residents (foreign nationals):
- Those who have a passport from the Republic of China (Taiwan)
- Those who reside in Taiwan
- Those who reside in Taiwan under applicable tax laws, and can provide official certifications (national ID card)
- *Account opening procedures and transactions are generally conducted in person at TSB’s Head Office.
- *Branches will not accept foreign currencies or exchange money into Japanese yen.
